Alisa Jones
Alisa Jones is the Head of Ensembles and Conducting for Education Queensland and a freelance conductor, educator, and adjudicator. She has been a music teacher and conductor for almost 30 years. Alisa travels throughout Australia, Asia, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America, conducting and lecturing at universities, music colleges, schools, and community groups. She has held the position of sessional lecturer of Orchestral Conducting at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music Griffith University and is currently the Musical Director of Queensland Wind and Brass Ensemble. She has worked with such esteemed ensembles as the Royal Northern College of Music (UK) Symphony Orchestra, the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, the Singapore Military Band, Elder Conservatorium Wind Ensemble, and the Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra. She has been conductor in residence at the Queensland State Honours Ensemble program on several occasions and guest conductor for the MOST ensemble program.
Alisa is also the cofounder of the Queensland Conducting Academy, which aims to provide support and training for aspiring young conductors.
As an adjudicator she has attended many festivals and competitions around Australia and is an active member of the Australian Band and Orchestra Directors Association. She has presented conducting workshops, professional development sessions, and keynote addresses at various conferences throughout Australia and has been artist-in-residence in Melbourne and Perth.
Alisa holds a Bachelor of Arts Music, a Double Diploma of Education, and a Masters Degree in Conducting, graduating with Distinction.
